Forth Bridges Accordion Band

who we are

The Forth Bridges Accordion Band are a new marching accordion band based in Bo'ness formed in July 2008.  The band used to be based in South Queensferry but had to move due to lack of facilities in the town.  We are the only marching accordion band based in the Central Scotland and the biggest marching accordion band in Scotland with over 60 members.  We are a community band, an independent band and not part of any large organisations. We welcome all members of the community to join!

Our band is a very diverse band with members from all walks of life.  Our band ranges from 3 year olds to 80 year olds.  Our band is made up from children, Adults, and OAP's.  It also has experienced players and learners.

Our band has grown in strength since its formation.  Our membership has risen from 12 to over 60 members.  Our members come from Dunfermline, Inverkeithing, Roysth, Cowdenbeth, Falkirk, Grangemouth, Bo'ness. Hallglen, Denny, Uphall, Broxburn, Blackburn, Polbeth, Bridgend, Whitburn, Alloa and Perth.

Our band is available for taking part in local gala day parades, concerts, fetes etc. The band has had alot of bookings this summer and has continued into the winter too.  We took part in almost 50 events during 2009.  It was disapointing the band had to turn away so many galas in 2009 but we can only be in one place at one time!

Bookings are already coming in for the band well up to 2011.  Bookings include invites to local gala days, invites to Northern Ireland and the band may possibility have the opportunity to take part in Tartan Day in New York, in April 2010.

The band currenly meets for practice on a Monday evening in the Mission Halls, Cowdenhill Road, Bo'ness. Our Junior band meets from 6.30pm - 7.30pm and our senior band practice is from 7.30pm - 9.00pm.   We are looking for beginners/experienced accordion players and drummers to join our ranks.  We also are looking for someone to carry the mace to lead the band and any children intereted in playing the cymbals or trinagles too.   We supply our members with a free uniform, instrument and tution.  Anyone interested in joining the band or finding out more about the band should contact by e-mailing accordionband@hotmail.com
